FLEX Information

FLEX schedules are starting this week!!

The FLEX periods begin this Tuesday, September 11th. FLEX periods will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays immediately following 3rd period.
FLEX is an opportunity for students to obtain a little extra instruction on various subjects, or simply use the period as a study period.  Teachers may assign their students to a FLEX period should they feel they need a little extra help, or the students can choose themselves if a teacher has not assigned one for them .  Students have already been instructed to sign up for this weeks upcoming FLEX period via the "Plus Time Sign Up" on the HP website home page (on the right side of the screen is a white button).  Students will use this link weekly to sign up. It is each student's responsibility to sign up every Thursday after 3:00pm.
Last week, the students all viewed an informational presentation online that helped them better understand the idea behind FLEX and how they will manage it.   We recommend you click here to view this presentation as it will give you a better understanding as well.
Reflections Art:

Calling all Artists!!

This year's PTA Reflections Theme is... Heroes Around Me.

The Reflections Art Program is a national arts recognition and achievement program for students sponsored by the National PTA. It is an excellent opportunity for students of all ages (Preschool to Grades 12) to unleash their creative talents, express themselves imaginatively in their artwork, and receive positive recognition for their original works of art.

To participate, students must complete an Entry Form (available soon) and Consent Form (consent form required for Dance Choreography, Film Production and Music Composition entries only) and submit an original piece, inspired by this year's theme: Heroes Around Me.

All entries must be submitted in accordance to the rules and turned in on Wednesday, October 17th between 8:30-9:30am in the Harvest Park Office.

Entries may be from one of these categories:

* Dance Choreography Film Production
* Literature
* Music Composition
* Photography
* Visual Arts

Special Artist Division:
The Special Artist Division is a non-graded division limited to students with physical, cognitive or mental health challenges. These students will follow all general and arts category rules, but may submit an entry in the grade division most closely aligned to their cognitive or functional abilities.

Harvest Park will be hosting a Gallery & Awards Night (more info to be announced at a later time) to showcase the entries from our students. Winning entries from each category will then move ahead to the council level (all Pleasanton PTA schools) and be showcased at the Firehouse Arts Center in December. Winning entries at the council level are then chosen to move on to the district (Alameda County) level, then state, and finally the national level.
